Out of the blue, Mark came into my mind the other day; we'd not seen each other for over 20 years but, in the couple of years we worked together, we were close friends. Seeing this awful news, I regret ever losing touch with one of life's lovely souls. I am saddened to my core. Toby x

Dear Mark, If there was anyone I wanted at the helm in the audit control room, it was you. You exuded calm amidst a tense atmosphere as the requests were coming in. You kept a watchful eye over the group, had a smile for all and afterwards appreciated them for their contribution. It was a pleasure knowing and working with you. I wish your soul peace, and comfort for Karen and your family and friends. The world was a better place for your presence.

Mark sweetheart! I loved you from the moment I saw you aged 14 at the Country Hotel where you worked as a chef! So cheeky! So cool, so much fun! You Dj’d my 16th birthday party! I grew up with you! I’m so sorry you lost your battle with your demons. I’m so so glad I found you and got to speak to you a little about Perth, and you’d even been here! watching the cricket. I will remember Mark as the beautiful person he was. His infectious smile, his passion for music, fashion, cooking, cricket, entertaining and his ability to sing like no one was listening. I can't believe you are gone Mark. I do count myself lucky though to have got to know you and work with you over so may years at GSK. Not only that but the pleasure of your company on various evenings out, I'll always remember the good times. We're preparing for your funeral. Me, Neil, Gav, Ter, Micky, Rick and Franko. .. it's surreal and I don't like it. The girls. They're planning and organizing and looking after us. Steph is taking care of you. I just can't... I cannot comprehend how this happened. Why are we doing this. Why are we all in so much pain. I wish Kaz and everyone could have saved you. My sincere condolences to Mark’s family and friends. Although we never met in person, it was easy to tell that Mark was one of life’s true gents. Mark’s warmth and kindness touched so many people, both near and far.

I will always remember Mark with a big smile on his face, so kind, helpful and had a great sense of humour. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I First met Mark many years ago at work, and during that time, the frequent corridor conversations become longer and longer discovering that we both had a love of Mod culture, fashion and music, in particular being mad Paul Weller fans. We became very good friends and there are so many happy memories of going to Weller gigs, our weekends in Suffolk, with Kaz and Sue, enjoying walking and playing with Dave and the times we managed to pop in for a cup of tea and catch up in Wiltshire. I remember fondly when you invited me to my first ever game of Cricket (at Lords) and we spent the entire game in a pub at Marylebone Station without seeing a single over due to rain and didn’t even get to see Lords, but had a fantastic day drinking and laughing with your friends. You were the life and soul of any occasion, so thoughtful and caring, always asking about the welfare of others. Many years ago, at the Harlow gym, the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate. My anxiety was up, and I felt paranoid being outside in my PE gear and not knowing anyone. You noticed, bowled over and sarcastically said something sassy like “there’s no fire, the alarm went off because you are hot”. We both laughed and I instantly felt more relaxed. Then I chipped my tooth on a cup and tried to carry on making small talk with you hoping you hadn’t seen. Thank you for noticing I needed a friend. Unfortunately, people that feel saddest on the inside often try super hard to make others laugh / feel special and they lose themselves even more. Karen – I am soooooooooo sorry for your loss. This is heartbreaking. We haven’t seen you for a couple of years but are here for you. I can’t imagine how hard this is for you. Mark’s warmth, big smile and cheeky banter will always live on. Mark - Fly high and be free.

When Tim introduced Wurzel to us at Lords little did we know it would lead to a long term friendship. We shared a love of cricket particularly Somerset County Cricket Club. We travelled the world watching England play and mostly losing! We shared some brilliant times together and enjoyed great company. Wurzel was a kind and generous friend.
